In these hot summers, AC units will be working hardest. If you face any difficulty with your AC working then we would love to help you out with it. Here we will give you some tips that will help your AC work better and keep you cool this summer.

The Air Just Doesn’t Get Cool Enough

The most important maintenance tip for your AC is about changing the air filter regularly. If you find that your AC is not giving any cool air then here you have to look after its air filter. Sometimes debris such as dust and pet hair clog the filters as AC isn’t able to work as efficiently. Just change the filters and see if you home feels any cooler.

One Room is Always Hot

If you have a room at your house that has many windows from where warm sunshine gets in, then AC will not cool that room as much as others. Here you have to close all the curtains, close blinds and plant some trees and shrubs outside those windows as they will provide shade on that side of your home.

The Electric Bill is High

If you think your AC is raising your energy bills in summer then this might be due to the reason that it is working very hard to reach the desired number on the thermostat. Here you have to find out if there is any air leak out of gaps around your doors and windows. This can be the reason why your AC might be working so hard. Try to fix these gaps with caulk or weather stripping. If your AC is old and outdated then this can also be the reason why you are getting high energy bills in summer. Change your AC if this is the case.

Clean the Air Condenser’s Coil

With time the evaporator and condenser coils of your AC unit accumulate dirt and debris. Dirt and debris will decrease the airflow and insulates the coil if they are not cleaned as coil won’t be able to absorb the heat properly. So it is very important to clean the condenser coil once or twice in a month.

Unclog the Condensed Drain Tube

When your AC unit has a clogged drain tube then you will find water draining out of the furnace. You can purchase pan tablets to eliminate clogs in the condensed drain tube.

Get regular maintenance of your AC unit

It is very important to get the regular service done of your AC unit. Always check the gas left and also clean the indoor as well as outdoor unit. You can use a soft bristle brush to clean both the outdoor and indoor units of your AC.

Get a Programmable Thermostat

It is always good to have a programmable thermostat as it will automatically set the temperatures for different times of a day. It will also help you to lower the temperature automatically so that you can save your electricity bill.
